A basic account research workflow
- 1. Confirm the account state. Active, hidden, suspended, shadowbanned and deleted accounts each leave different amounts of data. A username check tells you which.
- 2. Read the profile numbers. Account age against karma, and post karma against comment karma, say a lot about how the account is used.
- 3. Pull the full history. Combine sources rather than trusting one listing, which is capped and may be hidden.
- 4. Look at where and when. The subreddits an account uses most, and gaps in its activity, are usually more telling than any single post.
- 5. Record what you found. Save links and dates. Content can be deleted after you read it.
Where Reddit OSINT stops

- No email, IP address or location. None of it is public profile data.
- No suspended or shadowbanned accounts. Reddit stops serving them.
- Never a guaranteed complete history. Every source has gaps; combining them narrows the gaps without closing them.
Using it responsibly
Public does not mean fair game for anything. Research an account to vet a trade, check a source, moderate a community or understand your own footprint. Do not use it to harass, stalk or expose someone: Reddit bans posting personal information, and many jurisdictions treat it as a crime.

Can OSINT tools see a hidden Reddit profile?

Is Reddit OSINT legal?
Reading public Reddit content is generally legal, and it is the same data anyone can open in a browser. What you do with it can cross lines: harassment, stalking and publishing someone's personal information are illegal in many places and banned by Reddit's rules.
Does the account owner know they are being researched?
No. Reddit does not record or report profile views, and none of these methods contact the account. Research from public data leaves no trace the owner can see.
