Real people usually comment far more than they post. An account with large post karma and almost no comment karma is often farming karma through reposts, a common pattern in bought and bot accounts.
Read where the account is active
Check the subreddits it posts in most. A normal account has interests spread across hobbies, location and everyday topics. An account that only appears in trading, giveaway or karma-farming subreddits is a warning sign.
Look for gaps in the history
Scan the dates. An account that went silent for years and suddenly became active in a new niche may have been sold or taken over. So can one whose language or topics change abruptly.
Check the community's own records
Many trading subreddits track completed trades in user flair or confirmation threads, and several share a list of banned scammers, the Universal Scammer List. Search the username there before sending money.
