Export Reddit Comments and Posts
Download a Reddit user's public history as a spreadsheet. Search a username, then export the results to CSV.
Export is part of Pro. Searching is free.
How to export Reddit comments
Search the username above. When the results load, press Export CSV. The file holds every public post and comment the search found, with the subreddit, score, date and a link for each one. It works on any public account, not only your own.
What is in the file
| Column | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Type | Post or Comment |
| Subreddit | Where it was posted, for example r/AskReddit |
| Title/Body | The post title, or the first 200 characters of the comment |
| Score | Its score when the search ran |
| Date | When it was posted, in UTC |
| URL | A direct link back to it on Reddit |
Sort by the Subreddit column to see everything one user said in one community, or by Date to read their history in order.
Ways to export Reddit history
| Method | Whose account | You get | Catch |
|---|---|---|---|
| This tool | Any public account | A CSV of posts and comments | Public activity only. Export needs Pro |
| Reddit data request | Your own only | Everything, including votes and saved posts | You have to wait for an email |
| Public archives | Any account they captured | Raw data files | Technical, and not built for one user |
| Copying by hand | Any public account | Whatever you paste | Slow, and the profile stops at about 1,000 items |
Why the profile page is not enough
Reddit only lists about 1,000 items on a profile, newest first, and an account can hide its history from the profile altogether. The search behind this export pulls from several sort orders, Reddit's author search and a public archive, so it usually finds more than scrolling does. More on the 1,000 item limit.
Frequently asked questions
Can I download someone else's Reddit comments?
Yes, as long as the comments are public. Search the username, and Pro accounts get an Export CSV button on the results. It covers the public posts and comments the search found, including ones a hidden profile does not list.
How do I download my own Reddit history?
Reddit will send you a copy of your own account's data if you request it from your account settings. That copy includes things only you can see, like your votes and saved posts. To get just your public posts and comments in a minute, search your own username here instead.
What format is the export?
A CSV file, which opens in Excel, Google Sheets and Numbers. There is one row per post or comment.
Is the export complete?
It holds as much public activity as Reddit and the public archives still expose for that account. Comments deleted before any archive saved them cannot be included, and comment text is cut to its first 200 characters. The link in each row opens the full comment.
